PM Modi claims to have completed his post graduation from Gujarat University. On 9 May 2016, Bharatiya Janta Party president Amit Shah and his party colleague Arun Jaitley released two degrees to prove Modi secured a bachelor of arts degree from Delhi University and masters of arts degree from Gujarat University.
Why does this not settle the PM Modi’s education qualification issue?
According to the affidavit filed by him for the Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi was born on 17 September 1950. His Income Tax Permanent Account Number also has the same date of birth. This can be easily verified using the Income Tax Department’s Know Your PAN tool.

- Different Date of Births: Date of birth in PAN is 17 September 1950, while the same is 29 August 1949 in his MA marksheet statements doing the rounds on the Internet. When and why did PM Narendra Modi’s date of birth change?
- Variations in Name: The marksheets have PM Modi’s name as Narendra Damodardas Modi, while the BA & MA certificates issued by the ruling political BJP shows the same as Narendra Damoderdas Modi. According to AAP, there are different variations of names in marksheets of different years of PM Modi’s college.
- Marital Status: The Narendra Modi who has the MA degree from Gujarat University is unmarried.
- Calligraphic Handwriting: Is there some similarity in the calligraphic handwritings on the BA & MA certificates of PM Narendra Modi? Or, is it just an illusion? Only a handwriting expert can say.
The only way to completely settle the row and put it to rest is by PM Modi as well as the universities concerned coming out with complete details and marksheets to prove his educational qualifications.
